SOPRANO
Professional choral singer Sarah Maria Leung has sung with many prestigious ensembles worldwide. Her clear, light yet vibrant tone combined with exceptional sight-reading and musicianship skills make her a in-demand soprano in the choral scene. She currently sings with the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, and the vocal quartet Fonitika Vocal Ensemble which she founded.
A native of Hong Kong, Sarah’s vocal training started when she joined her school choirs at the age of 6. Since then singing has become a huge part of her life, and she has performed with multiple choirs at various international events, such as the World Choir Games in Graz, Austria and Shaoxing, China; the American Choral Directors’ Association National Conference in Salt Lake City, USA; and the World Choral Symposium in Seoul, Korea. She also has a featured solo in the CD Dawn of Night – a recording of Stephen Chatman’s music with the University of Toronto MacMillan Singers under Dr. Hilary Apfelstadt.
Sarah’s voice teachers include Christina Haldane, Mary Mattei, Janice McVeigh, and Margaret Yim.
